No they don't. The two best division one teams this side of Roanoke have been in the same district for the last 5 years. By your system one of them would be left out of the playoffs. I'm all for your system if you even out the districts, if not it's worthless imo.

How's that?...if they were the best in their own district they would have won it....if they didn't they're not even the best in their district...much less anywhere else. In a playoff where it's only district champs eligible, there are no DIVISIONS..

Playoffs would be worthless in that scenario. Two best teams play a game in the regular season to determine your regional champ. You'd have to put JIB down in a lower grouping whether it be division or not. Unless of course you want St. Paul to be in the same classifcation as Lee High, which is what you would have under that scenario.

Yea GC ve TW in the 1st round of the playoffs does not sound like much of an upgrade.....Add to that the fact that the last 2 seasons the CMD champ has lost to the #2 seed in the CMD in the playoffs (Same for CW over Burton in 07 and GC over PV in 01 I think)

    Re: Playoffs then and now...

The thing is it gives you one champ derived from all the district champs...that's as fair as what we have now. When's the last time a Region D division 1 school played a school of comparable size for state? If you just used 3 classifications, they'd go back to cutoff numbers like they used prior to 86 and you wouldn't have St. Paul vs. Lee cuz Lee would be AA...

If they went back to what they used to have prior to 1986, 500 was the cutoff for A, 1000 for AA, and greater than 1000 was AAA..there would be no more of this "equal thirds" nonsense..

There would be next to no Singal A teams out side of our area and WAY TOO many AAA teams

    Re: Playoffs then and now...

If ya look across the state, you'll find some teams with 500 or less...every school would fit into a category. Really, everyone is always saying the current system is unfair...the old system was the fairest we've ever had. Should have never strayed from it to begin with IMO.
